Apprentice Rubber Technician
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- You will succeed in this position if you enjoy a hard day’s work, are mechanically inclined, a self-starter, a forward thinker, and willing to learn. You’ll work around large mining equipment; being alert, aware, drug-free, and safety-minded is an absolute necessity. We drug test!
WHY VULCAN PRECISION LININGS:
- Starting wage is $16.00 to $18.00 per hour or D.O.E, plus an additional $3.00/hour “field rate,” while working out-of-town
- Per Diem is paid while working out-of-town
- Overtime pay
- Typically work four ten-hour days
- Following a 60-day probationary period, paid Medical and Dental benefits for the employee and their eligible family members
- Paid time off (PTO) for vacation and holidays
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 years of age with a high school education
- Able to legally work in this country
- No violent felonies on your criminal background record
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening (random drug tests are also conducted)
- Have a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record
- Be able to lift approximately 75 pounds
- Must be okay with working in tight, confined spaces, and at heights
- Must be okay with traveling April – October (minimum of 1- 2 weeks at a time) *
- Manage own time and create correct and proper paperwork and records, as necessary
- Ability to understand information and directions presented through spoken and written English* Out-of-town travel is required, but we’re typically only gone for a day or two, even though you can be gone for up to two weeks at times.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare parts and equipment by sandblasting, scraping, using a chip gun, or painting surfaces for the application of lining
- In time, operate a diverse array of equipment and machinery. In the beginning, you’ll use a sandblaster using steel grit, drive lift trucks, and use grinders & chip guns. Eventually, you may operate a burn oven, an autoclave, compressors, generators, high-heat mold presses, overhead cranes, and spark-testing equipment
- Visit off-site plants to install linings or make repairs
